Why Niche Affiliate Marketing?

There are a lot more people out there selling affiliate marketing advice than those who have actually managed to use that advice to make their fortunes. And, unfortunately, those people are constantly aiming for ways to stand out with exciting new strategies that teach new things no one has ever seen before. They tell you all sorts of things that are generally untrue or questionable at best.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • Some niches are too competitive
  • You cannot make money selling “money making” products
  • ClickBank is the only way to go
  • High gravity means a product is too competitive

They’re all false and while sometimes it might seem like they’re true, it all really comes down to being able to stand back and knock out the better website. There is no such thing as a niche that is too competitive. There are just websites that don’t do enough to be competitive.

There are plenty of sites other than ClickBank. High gravity is a very good thing. And money making products can be highly effective... if you sell them properly. So, instead of just taking what you hear at face value, let’s take a look at what does and does not work when researching a new niche.

Why Focus on a Niche Topic?

Choosing a niche is common advice, but deciding on a specific topic to promote can be daunting. The process of choosing a niche involves selecting a topic that has a high demand, low competition, and a decent margin for profit. This will make it easier to attract a targeted audience and build a relationship with them.

Using a tool such as Google AdWords' Keyword Planner will tell you which keywords are most sought after. You can use these to promote affiliate products and services. The trick is to keep an eye on new products and brands that are launched in your niche.

The same tool also shows you which keywords are searched most often. This is useful information because it helps you shape your niche site to promote products and services that will appeal to your target audience.

Another tool you may want to use is Google Trends. This is similar to Google Autocomplete but allows you to see the best-performing search terms over time. This information can also help you determine which products and services will be most popular in your niche in the near future.

How to Choose a Niche for Affiliate Marketing

Probably one of the reasons many new affiliate marketers fall over so early is that one of the hardest steps to perform is also the first step you need to complete. Knowing your market and preparing targeted keywords are the key to getting sales, and everything from here hinges on this critical step. Fortunately I'm here to walk you through this.

Finding Profitable Digital Product Niches

In this section we are looking at how to find profitable digital product niches and products on Clickbank. We are also going to look at some basic niche keyword research to help you determine whether a niche is profitable.

Finding Products on Clickbank

When it comes to finding profitable digital niches and products to promote, Clickbank should be your first port of call. Head over to clickbank.com and click on Marketplace to get started. From the Clickbank marketplace you need to pick a category of products.

The aim is to find niches and products that have already proven themselves to be profitable. Thankfully, Clickbank now makes this quite easy with some of their tools. You want to use the “Filters” function on the left-hand side of the page. Notice the gravity rating filter.

Gravity is a measure of how many affiliates are making sales of a product on Clickbank. The higher the gravity, the more affiliates there are making sales of that product. So if you set your gravity filter higher, you'll know that the results of your search will be products that definitely convert which is great.

Keep in mind though that the higher the gravity, the more affiliates there are out there promoting this product. More competition. Most of the time this isn't a problem. The only issue is that it becomes more difficult to attract people to your site who are specifically looking for a review or discussion of that product.

It's more difficult to attract these people because there are lots of other affiliates trying to grab them too. This doesn't mean that you can't attract people to your website... it just makes one small but powerful method a bit more difficult.

If you want to avoid this problem altogether, try to have a few products on your list with gravity between 6 and 25. This means it's making regular sales, but it's not hugely competitive just yet. You also want to set the average dollars per sale to a minimum of $15, so you make a healthy amount per sale.

This gravity-based search leaves us with around 100 different products. This is too much to search through by hand, so it’s time to use the subcategories feature of Clickbank to whittle down the product selection even further. You will find a list of sub-categories under the category button you clicked on earlier. Clicking this sub-category reveals 10 different products with a gravity score of at least 6, and at least $15 per sale.

What you need to do now is run back through the same process and find at least ten different products worthy of promotion. Try different sub-categories on Clickbank, and get an idea for yourself of what sorts of products would make sense being promoted on your website. At this stage it’s also worth considering whether you prefer the idea of tackling a larger niche – say self-help – or really breaking it down into a specific subniche like manifestation.

You should also jot down the names of any good products you find in a Notepad or Excel file, as well as popular niche terms that seem to appear lots. In the self-help category this would be phrases like “law of attraction” or “personal development”.

Basic Keyword Research

Before you can finish your digital niche and product research, you need to make sure that people are actually searching for terms related to the products you want to sell. By running a gravity check you know that affiliates are making sales of any given product, but this doesn’t reveal how they are making sales... and it would be very frustrating to dedicate yourself to a niche only to find that there is little organic search volume to make “free” sales with.

What this means is that you will need to do some basic keyword research to see if there is any real public interest in the niche you have found. Keyword research is the process of finding what phrases – known as keywords – people are searching online to find information, products, and advice. Basically, you’re looking to see if there is any potential for profit! You’ll need a keyword research tool to find keywords.

Finding Profitable Physical Product Niches

In this section we are looking at finding profitable physical product niches and products. We will start by discussing why you should consider promoting physical products, what physical product affiliate programs there are, and then looking at how to find hot niches.

The Benefits of Promoting Physical Products

Why would you want to promote physical products, especially compared to digital products? Firstly, people are familiar with buying physical products; either in stores or online. We all know popular brands from Adidas to Zippo, and we buy these products and feel comfortable with buying them.

If people are familiar with a product they will be much more likely to purchase. Secondly, the majority of people out there like to get something tangible – a product they can touch, hold, feel, taste, or smell. This is particularly true when it comes to parting with your own, hard-earned money.

Finally, trust has an important role to play. If you promote a physical affiliate product program like Amazon Associates, your customers will probably trust Amazon a lot more than they would any digital information publisher.

This is because many people purchase regularly through sites like Amazon or eBay. So what does this all mean? Basically, a physical products can often convert massively better than digital ones. Although you usually earn less money per sale, it can quickly add up if you are converting at a high rate.

Physical Affiliate Programs

Amazon Associate Program

There are a whole heap of different physical product affiliate programs, but allow me to run through some of the most popular and profitable. Amazon Associates is the bread and butter of many physical affiliates’ incomes. You can join quickly and easily at affiliate-program.amazon.com and get promoting right away.

You can promote virtually any product Amazon sells, and although the commission rates are quite low compared to Clickbank, if you have a high-converting offer and get lots of traffic then you can make some serious cash. There is even an option to be paid in Amazon gift certificates, which is ideal if you plan on affiliate marketing to raise money for some new “toys” like a new computer, iPod, or clothes.

The biggest drawback to Amazon Associates, in my opinion, is that you have to wait the best part of 2 months to actually get paid by check. However, it is still a very good affiliate program.

eBay Partner Network

eBay offers their own affiliate network for physical products, known as the eBay.

Up until 2009 you would receive a percentage of a successful sale’s advertising fees, but then the system was changed. Now you receive a commission based on the number of clicks you send through to eBay, and the amount you earn is based on an undisclosed algorithm. You can join at https://partnernetwork.ebay.com/

If your site is based around a niche that is highly popular on eBay then you could find the eBay partner network highly profitable. The biggest problem with the eBay partner network when you first start out is that you may not qualify if you don’t get enough traffic to your website. This affiliate program is a better choice for sites that have been established for a while.

Commission Junction

Commission Junction (www.cj.com) is another popular affiliate program that encompasses a wide range of different products, some coming from prominent brand name companies. As I said before, this can be very good for conversion rates and making money, as people like brand-name products.

Market Health

It is a good choice for tangible products, and you can kind of think of it like the Clickbank of non-digital products. Market Health (www.markethealth.com) is a great physical product affiliate program if you are looking to market in the health and beauty niche. The beauty product niche is very profitable.

When promoting health products, make sure you do your research first; don’t promote anything that could be potentially hazardous to customers. Also, you need to have a watertight disclaimer policy if you are promoting health-based products.

Choosing the Best Niches for Your Affiliate Marketing Business

Choosing a niche for your affiliate marketing campaign can be intimidating. The first step is to figure out what niche is the best fit for you. However, it is best to choose a niche you are passionate about. In order to make money, you must choose a niche that interests you and has a high conversion rate. Then, you must do your research to find a product that meets your requirements.

Profitable Niche Hunting

There are a few different methods I like to use to find profitable physical product niches. To start with, let’s look at using Google Product Search (www.google.com/prdhp) to find items that are popular right now, and items with strong seasonal interest.

You can see which products are popular in any particular week, and then see seasonally popular products in the bar below. For example, at the time of recording, cooking products for the traditional American Thanksgiving holiday are very popular.

You could build a niche site around cooking gear for Thanksgiving, and then a few months before the holiday start focusing on promotion. If you had multiple websites like this (one for Christmas, one for Valentines day etc) then you could add a lot of extra income to your bottom line.

The Amazon Bestsellers (www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers/zgbs) list is another great way of finding hot physical products and niches. You can see the best selling products from any category, and even see how many days the particular product has been in the top 100 in its category.

Remember to search by category so you can get a good idea for what items are in high demand. The Amazon Most Wished For feature is another way of finding products that people REALLY want. Once again, you can search by category here.

It is very important to check whether the physical product niches you are promoting are evergreen, seasonal, or “here today, gone tomorrow”. This can be done using Google Trends (formerly known as Google Insights). It’s just a case of visiting Google.com/trends and you can then plug in your physical niche (or specific product) and see a chart of interest over time.

For example, a search for “home fitness equipment” over the past 12 months clearly shows a peaking of interest around December through February (the peak time for those New Years’ get fit resolutions)

If we search for “books” we can see that this is an evergreen niche – interest is constant throughout the year. You want to build your bread and butter physical product sites around evergreen niches, so you don’t have to worry about sales dropping off at unseasonal parts of the year. Of course you can build seasonal sites that make you nice extra cash at the right times of the year, but you don’t want to rely on these too much.

Getting started in affiliate marketing is not as hard as you think. Just find a niche that is in demand and start researching the topic to see if you can find some good content to promote. Dating Niche

Using the dating industry is a $6 billion dollar a year market and is projected to grow by 5% each year. Luckily, it is a recession-proof industry so if you have a web presence you are well positioned to take advantage of this lucrative market. In fact, it's a fairly competitive industry and you will have to be a little creative to stand out from the crowd. Some of the better dating affiliate programs offer commissions in the range of 75%.

There are a lot of dating sites out there. The best ones are visually appealing, have a solid mobile app, and offer attractive and affordable membership plans. A dating site can earn you money while you sleep if you know what you are doing. As with any niche, you'll want to do your research before jumping in. Whether you're interested in promoting an individual product or a complete line of green power products, you'll find affiliate programs that can help you make a good living.

There are a variety of solar energy affiliate programs, from solar chargers to complete solar power kits. The most important thing to keep in mind is the size of the market for these products. The smaller the market, the better the commission rate you'll earn. There are also some high-end programs, like the ones offered by Tesla, that can provide you with a decent income. Always keep an eye out for the best programs.

Despite being a relatively new player on the block, the Inergy affiliate program boasts impressive products, a robust marketing platform, and an impressive number of free marketing materials to get you started. For example, the company offers an impressive number of products that are well-suited for digitally savvy demographics.

Choosing a green energy niche for your niche affiliate marketing business can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. You'll be able to find hundreds of profitable niches to choose from. Choosing the right one is the first step towards building a profitable business.

In general, the green energy niche will vary based on your needs. It's not a stretch to say that the green energy niche has something to do with saving money. Products in this sector include digital plans, physical goods, and even septic tank treatment.

Health Niche

One of the most popular affiliate marketing niches is the health niche. This niche focuses on fitness, fighting against the disease, and eating healthy. In addition, this niche covers supplements, organic eating, veganism, and other steps that promote healthy living.

Another niche you may consider is the fitness market. This is a large and growing market. The fitness niche has a lot of products available for affiliates to promote. There are also micro-niches that are more specific. For example, a weight-loss site may focus on a certain ingredient, a device, or program. This is an ideal niche for those looking to generate high revenues.

The health and wellness industry is a massive market with many different niches to choose from. Whether you want to promote fitness equipment, health supplements or bodybuilding, you can join the industry as an affiliate.

The health and wellness industry is expected to reach $7 trillion by 2025. This makes it one of the most profitable niches for affiliate marketing. There are many niches in the health and wellness industry, including bodybuilding, fitness equipment, weight loss programs, keto diet, and health supplements. You can also promote products that include healthy cooking ingredients.

Survival Niche

In the survival niche, you can offer products that resonate with your target audience, such as emergency preparedness. In addition, you can look for topics that are seasonal. This will increase your chances of making money. For example, you can offer a survival product during the winter.

Pet Niche

Using a pet-related affiliate program to advertise your products can be a lucrative endeavor. The industry has a massive reach and is a great fit for your marketing efforts. Pets are a big part of many families, and people know how to spend their money. However, your program must have a lucrative payoff in order to be successful.

The best pet related affiliate program is likely to be the Chewy. Chewy is a major online pet retailer, and they carry a wide array of pet-related products. You can sell pet food, bedding, and toys, among other pet related items. They have an affiliate program that pays out up to 75% in commissions. They even have an Autoship program that will automatically ship your customers a pre-determined supply of your favorite dog or cat treats, thereby increasing your average order value.

Baby Niche

Another profitable affiliate marketing niche is the baby niche. Babies are a perfect niche because they are always changing, and they are also repeat customers. There is a high demand for baby products. Whether you are selling baby products, pet products, or other kinds of products, you are sure to have repeat customers.

To find the best baby niche for affiliate marketing, you need to first determine the products and services that people are searching for. You can do this by using SEO tools to research the keywords people use to find products. Then, you need to choose a product that meets the needs of your target audience.

You can also check the competition in the niche to decide if it will be profitable. Choosing a niche that has a low level of competition is best for beginner affiliate marketers. However, if you have experience in the field, you may want to branch out to a broader niche.

Whether you're looking for a way to start making money online or you just want to increase your income, affiliate marketing can be an excellent option. However, to make the most of your affiliate marketing efforts, you must choose a niche that has the potential to be profitable. Your niche should be one that is appealing to your target audience.

There are many different types of niches that you can choose from and you need to make sure you are promoting the right ones. You don't want to miss out on any opportunities because you are not taking advantage of them. When choosing a niche, you must evaluate the competition. You may not be able to compete with the big players, but you can work with the most innovative creators in your niche. This is one of the most important steps in building your niche affiliate marketing campaign.
